This rustic resort is set in a three and half-acre estate of coffee,
spices and fruit trees at the periphery of the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary.
The Taj Garden Retreat has 32 rooms in cottages built on stilts and
surrounded by thick woods.
Thekkady is a tiny hamlet on the periphery of the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary,
in Kerala. The Sanctuary allows visitors an opportunity to view elephants,
wild boar, deer and other wild animals while cruising on the Periyar
Lake. Visitors can also commune with nature by embarking on a jungle
trek with a forest warden. Thekkady is the perfect place to get away
from it all for a day or two.

Taj Garden Retreat is 20 km from Kottayam railway station. Originally
built by an English missionary 123 years ago, Baker’s Bungalow,
as it was then called, housed four generations of the Baker family.
Set in rustic surroundings on the edge of the picturesque Vembanad Lake,
the hotel has 22 rooms including rooms in cottages and in houseboats
anchored in the lake.
Kumarakom is a tiny hamlet on the banks of a lagoon formed by the Vembanadu
Lake. It is a picturesque world of backwaters, thatched houseboats,
Cormorants, Chinese fishing nets and swaying palms. An ideal getaway
if there ever was one.

Taj Garden Retreat isolated 3 km from Varkala railway station and 51
km from Trivandrum airport. The hotel has 30 rooms perched atop a terraced
cliff and some of these offer stunning views of the coastline.
Varkala, a small seaside town in Kerala, has been a Hindu pilgrimage
site since the 12th Century. To this day, the eight hundred year old
Janardhanaswamy Temple remains a popular pilgrimage spot. Varkala is
also blessed with an un-spoilt, golden beach, lapped by the waters of
the Indian Ocean.
